Lighting does strike twice. In the case of Singers Wei Si and Kelvin Kwan Chor-yiu, Japanese police have allegedly found a banned substance in their luggage thus preventing them from returning to Hong Kong yesterday.

Amusic, Wei Si’s record company, cited her lawyer in Japan as saying she is likely to be detained for another 14 to 23 days because of the discovery. There has being no disclosure on whose luggage contained the banned substance nor what the substance is.

Wei Si, aka Jill Vidal, is said to have requested a Chinese newspaper while in detention even though she does not read Chinese, and was shocked by the extensive coverage of her case.

Amusic said if Wei Si, 26, is convicted of a drug-related offense it will terminate her deal. Jill Vidal aka Wei Si and Kelvin Kwan were arrested at a 24-hour store in Tokyo’s Shibuya district two weeks after police were called to what was said to be a shoplifting incident but allegedly found 0.2 grams of marijuana on Kwan.

Well I’m not sure if its a sign of the times or a parent’s undying love for your kids. it seems that in the current economic climate, parents have to plead guilty and asks for mercy for their kids wrongdoings if any.

The father of singer Wei Si broke down yesterday as he begged the public to show his daughter mercy over her drug arrest in Tokyo.

Joey Vidal – whose daughter is also known as Jill Vidal – apologized through his tears for not giving her a healthy and balanced family upbringing.

However, Wei Si’s entertainment career will inevitably be stalled, if not ended, because her record company has suspended her from working and say it will terminate her contract if she is convicted of any drug-related offenses.

Her Filipino father Joey and her twin sister, singer “Wei Lan,” also known as Janice Vidal, and recording company Amusic held a joint press conference yesterday.

“I’m sorry that I didn’t provide a healthy family background for Jill. Everyone please give my daughter a chance,” Joey Vidal said.

He said both he and Wei Lan were upset by the incident.

The twins’ parents divorced when they were babies and when their Chinese-Korean mother took Wei Lan to Korea, Wei Si and her father went to live in Canada.

The twins did not know of each other’s existence until they reached their teens and were reunited in Hong Kong where they went on to live with their father.

Amusic chief executive Wong Hoi-man said Wen Si’s manager, Joe Chan Sinn-Gi, flew to Tokyo yesterday morning along with a lawyer and interpreter to visit her.

Chan said more details will be announced after they have received information from Japanese police.

Amusic general manager Nathan Cheung Ka-fung said before the outcome of the police investigation Wen Si’s family, manager and Amusic have agreed to suspend her entertainment-related jobs for a “considerable period of time” because of the negative impact her arrest will have on youngsters.

“When she is done searching for herself she will come back to show business,” Cheung said.

“By that time we hope people will give her a chance, but we know it will be a blessing which may not come by.”

Cheung said they do not want the public, especially the young, to think celebrities can get away with their mistakes.

“If Wen Si is convicted of possession of drugs or abuse of drugs, we will take decisive action and terminate her contact immediately,” he said.

Wei Si, 26, and singer Kelvin Kwan Chor-yiu, 25, have been held for 10 days by the Japanese authorities over alleged possession of marijuana.

They were arrested in Tokyo’s trendy Shibuya district on February 24.

Kelvin Kwan has admitted to drug possession charges, however he has not admitted to shoplifting charges in Tokyo, Japan. This was relayed to the press from Kelvin Kwan’s Music label Go East via his mother whom is over in Japan supporting him. Lawyers have being hired by both Kelvin Kwan and Jill Vidal in hopes of resolving their current predicament.

Both Kelvin Kwan and Jill Vidal have been in detention in Tokyo, Japan over the past week on charges of “alleged” drug possession and shoplifting. There is hopes that they can come back to Hong Kong by next week.

Hong Kong artists Kelvin Kwan (關楚耀) and Jill Vidal (衛詩) were arrested in Tokyo, over alleged possession of marijuana. Kelvin Kwan is a Canadian citizen while Jill Vidal is holding UK passport. It is reported that they were shopping around Shibuya area and had argument with one of the shop owners. Police was called later. Marijuana was found in Kelvin Kwan’s bag by police.

Kelvin Kwan said the marijuana was brought from Hong Kong while Jill Vidal said she did not know anything about it.

Kelvin and Jill are rumored to be couple. Kelvin’s father is close friend of Hong Kong heavyweight artist Alan Tam (谭咏麟). Alan actually takes him as godson. Kelvin is also nephew of veteran artist Teddy Robin Kwan (泰迪罗宾). Jill Vidal is signed by Leon Lai’s record company Amusic.
