Hong Kong singer-actor Nicholas Tse takes on a “military look” for his new long-awaited digital EP, “The Last Nicolas Tse”.

Hong Kong singer-actor Nicholas Tse has released his new long-awaited digital EP, entitled “The Last Nicolas Tse,” according to a report on the website Sina.com.

The song lyrics on this album reflect some of the low points of Tse’s life over the past few years. Tse appears as an aviator in the promotional photo for his new album. When asked why he took on a “military look,” he said, “Life is full of battles; you have to face up to them, and you have to fight.”

Tse, who has not performed in many live shows during the past three years, said in a recent interview that he loves music as always, but would not release albums only to boost his popularity. When he has something to say and feels the need to say it, he will do so via music, he said.

It has been more than a decade since Tse entered show business. Now, at the age of 29, he has attained fame and has implied that he may consider retiring, according to the title of his latest album.

“I’ve always been thinking that one day I will retire from this industry,” Tse said, according to the Sina.com report.

Last year was a particularly tough one for Tse. In February, his wife Cecilia Chung, was embroiled in the Edison Chen photo scandal, when intimate photographs of her were widely distributed on the Internet, and the couple was subject to intense media scrutiny.

To the public, Tse is no longer an iconic “cool-boy.” Being a husband and father have changed him. When Chung was caught up in the photo scandal, he stood firmly beside her and supported her.

During his interview in a talk show program with famous TV host Cao Kefan, Tse recalled many difficulties he and his wife had worked through. He also expresed his love for her, and said his family, including his one-year-old son, Lucas, was his motivation in life.

Edison Chen’s well-wishes sounded like hypocrisy to Cecilia Cheung and sparked anger in the female entertainer who had taken a low profile for the past one year after the outburst of the sex photo scandal. On her first interview after the scandal, she said she has taken to writing one diary entry a day to record all her misdoings and plans to give it to her son, Lucas, when he turns 18.

After her nude photos were disseminated, she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. What worried her most then was her son who was just seven to eight months old. She was afraid her past actions may affect her son’s future; so she planned to give the diary to her son when he is grown. “I believe he will be very understanding by the time he is 18 years old,” Cheung said.

Cheung’s manager said her emotions were not affected after the interview with I-cable Entertainment. Her manager also clarified that Cheung took on the interview to speak her mind and does not represent any intentions of a comeback. There are also no plans in the pipeline; however she will still be working on assignments to fulfill the old contract terms. Cheung will be traveling to China for a commercial shoot this week.

According to sources, Cheung has earlier on contacted the lady boss of her former artiste management company and director Yee Tung-Shing to express wishes to make movies again.

According to Henry Fong, Yee’s hired producer, “Cecilia has been in touch with Yee Tung-Shing on the phone. She said her son has grown and she can now resume work. She was checking if there are opportunities to work together.”

Yee has also expressed wish to cast Cheung in his new movie “Death Duel” which will begin filming this year end or early next year; the male lead will most likely be Louis Koo.

Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung publicly discussed her sex photo scandal with Edison Chen for the first time on television last night.

Hong Kong-based i-CABLE Entertainment News Channel aired the exclusive interview.

A report in sohu.com said Cheung showed sincere regret for her actions during the program and placed all the blame on herself. But she also criticized actor Chen, claiming he shed crocodile tears when he testified in a Canadian court last Monday for his involvement in the scandal.

The scandal involved the theft and illegal publication on the Internet of intimate and private photos of Chen with various women, including Cheung and actresses Gillian Chung and Bobo Chan. It shook Hong Kong’s entertainment industry in early 2008 and received much media attention in China and around the world.

On February 23, Chen attended a court hearing in Canada and testified against Ho Chun Sze, a computer technician who was accused of posting the scandalous photos online.

This official trial will take place in Hong Kong. Chen has refused to return to Hong Kong for the case, instead agreeing to testify in a Canadian court.

Chen said he wants to protect the innocence of those women involved in the photographs when he appeared in British Columbia Supreme Court in Vancouver to testify.

On the television program last night, Cheung said she appeared in public shortly after Edison’s hearing, because she was fed up with Chen and blamed him for the scandal. When the photos were published on the Internet, Cheung said she tried to contact Chen, but could not reach him. She pointed out that Chen did not even apologize to her in person after the scandal broke out.

When Cheung discussed her relationship with Chen, she implied he was dishonest and unreliable and a hypocrite who brought shame to the women involved in the scandal.

In the interview, she also said women involved in the scandal had not expected Chen to protect them a year ago, but asked him now to give them the respect and dignity they deserve.

During the television interview Cheung cried when she talked about her family. She said she was very grateful for the support of her parents-in-law and especially her husband Nicholas Tse, whom she called the best husband she could ever have.

Chen, who flew to Singapore yesterday with friends for a publicity campaign reacted to Cheung’s interview by saying that the scandal was his fault and he accepted all blame.

Cheung also said she would consider resuming her acting career if she was offered a good script, but for now would focus on her family. The actress almost stopped working after the scandal became public in last January.

In the meantime, Gillian Chung, another participant in the scandal, said she would resume acting work in early March after being in seclusion for about a year.
